POWER OF PLACE

Jackson Hole has unique power of place - the ability to bring people together across divides to solve challenges. In 1989, Secretary of State James Baker and Soviet Foreign Minister Eduard Shevardnadze met here, and the trust they built on its trails and rivers helped ease Cold War tensions at a pivotal moment.

We build on that history and through "thinking locally and acting globally" we drive forward new ideas and action.

Track II Dialogues

JHI's Track 2 dialogues are unofficial, people-to-people conversations that build trust and practical cooperation outside official channels. Since 2021, our Coal Regions and Energy Transformation dialogues have connected community leaders, workers, and experts from Wyoming, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania with counterparts in Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia. Together they have shared strategies for economic diversification, workforce opportunity, and keeping coal regions energy leaders, including at a 2025 convening in Bellagio, Italy.

Founded in 2008 as the Global Business Roundtable, the Jackson Hole Roundtable (JHR) gives members off-the-record briefings on the global economy, politics, security and society.

The JHR is more than a speaker series. It is a leading forum where Jackson Hole's leaders and residents incubate ideas, putting the valley's Power of Place to work so that new local thinking can translate into global action.

Members help set the agenda. Each year, the JHI team, the JHR chair and members choose the themes. For 2027, they are:

  • Energy and investing

  • AI and communities

  • Global affairs

  • Managing local growth

At year end, the dialogues produce "Think Locally, Act Globally" white papers that carry key ideas, takeaways, and recommendations beyond the valley.

Laurent Roux, Founder and CEO of Gallatin Wealth Management, chairs the JHR.
